Indeed, the Costa Blanca\nis host to three beautiful island treasures of its own that are well worth a\nvisit. Here is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sonneil.com\/en\">Sonneil<\/a>\u2019s guide to the islands of the Costa\nBlanca.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Benidorm Island<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Peacock Island,\njournalists\u2019 island, the island of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sonneil.com\/en\/search?q=benidorm\">Benidorm<\/a>, or simply L&#8217;Illa to locals, the small\ntriangular rock off the coast of Benidorm is a must visit for nature lovers.\nMeasuring just 350m in length by 260m in width, its stand out feature is a 70m\nhigh cliff on its southside. The islet forms part of the Sierra Helada Nature\nPark, owing to its rich flora and fauna both on land and in its surrounding\nwaters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Situated just two and\na half nautical miles from the coast, facing the Canfali headland that divides\nLevant and Poniente beaches in Benidorm, the uninhabited island has a bar and\nrestaurant to attend to the needs of many daily visitors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It can be reached by\nferry from Levante Beach, with boats leaving every hour and take about 20\nminutes to reach the island. The ticket price includes a trip on the<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">AQUASCOPE, a\nspecialised boat with an underwater viewing deck that allows to take in the\nview beneath the waves. The Aquascope takes you on a short ride around the\nisland, lasting about fifteen minutes during which you can see starfish, squid\nand huge shoals of fish, all at eye level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Back on dry land,\nBenidorm island can be explored on foot along a guided path to the summit where\nyou can take in the impressive views of the Benidorm coastline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Tabarca island<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tabarca Island is a\n2km long, 400m wide marine reserve situated 16km off the coast of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sonneil.com\/en\/search?q=alicante\">Alicante<\/a>. The island was once a refuge for\nBarbary pirates, before King Carlos III ordered it to be confiscated and\nfortified on behalf of the Crown in the 18th Century. He repopulated it with\nfishermen from Genoa whom he had rescued from the hands of the pirates and were\nbeing held captive in the Tunisian city of &#8220;Tabarka\u201d.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The only inhabited\nisland in Valencian Community, its population fluctuates between a few dozen in\nwinter and a few hundred in summer, when about 3,000 visitors a day arrive on\nthe island. The annual influx of visitors is largely thanks to its main beach\nwhich is one of the most beautiful in the Alicante area. Other sites of\ninterest include the walled old town and picturesque port area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The island of Tabarca\ncan be accessed from Alicante, Santa Pola, Guardamar, Torrevieja and Benidorm\nby boat. From Alicante the journey usually lasts about 45min and costs around\n18 Euros.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Portichol island<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Island of\nPortichol is located in the municipality of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sonneil.com\/en\/search?q=javea\">Javea<\/a> in the Marina Alta region of Alicante province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A peculiarly round\nand hilly island, Portichol is located just off the Javea coast, to which it is\nconnected by a strip of land submerged about 3 m beneath the water, called an\nisthmus.
