Beaches in Torrevieja<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The beaches, naturally, are at the forefront of any recommendation for a visit to Torrevieja. There are beaches to suit all tastes, from long stretches of fine sand to small, hidden, quiet coves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Take your pick. Or, better yet… visit them all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Los N\u00e1ufragos Beach<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This beach holds a Blue Flag award since 1996. With a length of 300 metres, it is perhaps the best known beach in Torrevieja (and, therefore, the most visited).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Apart from its proximity to the city, the best thing about it is that you can practice water sports<\/strong> such as windsurfing, paddle surfing, kayaking… A great way to enjoy its clean waters while you exercise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

El Cura Beach<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Cura beach is also one of the best known beaches in Torrevieja. With 325 metres in length, it is the most centric<\/strong> and accessible beach. So be prepared to share space with a lot of people in the summer months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It also has a great promenade where you can sample the best of Alicante’s gastronomy in its bars and restaurants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Los Locos Beach<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Los Locos beach stands out for its length of 760 metres. The little ones love it because of the inflatable platforms and pyramids that they can climb in the water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Its waters are particularly calm<\/strong>, also great for water sports. The perfect beach to spend the whole day with friends and family!<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n

La Mata Beach<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Come to the district of La Mata to spend endless hours on this wide beach, perfect for those relaxing walks that help you unwind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is one of the longest beaches in Torrevieja. Measuring over 2,300 metres in length<\/strong> and more than 40 metres in width, this beach is more comfortable than other urban beaches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We love the dunes that surround it, which are part of the Molino de Agua Park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ferris Cove, a Mediterranean oasis<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

In contrast to the urban beaches, Ferris cove offers an oasis of relaxation<\/strong>: just sand, palm trees and crystal-clear water. There are no bars or restaurants within a few kilometres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Torrevieja Fair<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The favourite spot for the little ones (and not so little ones) in Torrevieja is the funfair. A classic experience in this part of Alicante province is to go up on the big ferris wheel<\/strong> and enjoy the incredible views of the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is open all year round. The best plan is to visit the crafts and accessories stalls along the promenade and finish the day with an adrenaline rush on the rides.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Water parks in Torrevieja<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Torrevieja is also well known for its water parks, a great choice for the whole family in the summer months. Choose between Aqu\u00f3polis Torrevieja<\/a><\/strong> and Acuapark Flamingo, with fun rides such as donuts, soft tracks and rapids. And there are areas exclusively for the little ones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n

Tabarca Island<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

For those looking for a natural environment, a visit to the island of Tabarca will make you feel like you’re in a remote place, away from the hustle and bustle of fast-paced life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dive in the unique ecosystem of its marine reserve<\/strong>, which you must visit at least once in your life. Tabarca combines the best of two worlds: the air and the almost infinite blue Mediterranean Sea, and the medieval heritage of the surroundings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A military fortress, a historic lighthouse, a medieval gate, churches… and a unique sunset.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gastronomy in Torrevieja<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Of course, gastronomy is also a must. The Mediterranean produce is at its best on the Costa Blanca, and Torrevieja is no exception. Fresh fish and seafood<\/strong>, fruit, vegetables… and, of course, rice, an Alicante classic that is constantly evolving. Try the best at El Pescador or El Mes\u00f3n de la Costa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And, if you’re looking for a more international cuisine, you’ll also find contemporary restaurants designed to please tourists and visitors from all over the world. We love the Japanese cuisine of Umami, the Mexican cuisine of El Charro Negro and the pizzas of Pizza N1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n

Nature and culture in Torrevieja<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Torre del Moro (Moorish Tower)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This construction was part of the system of defensive towers that protected Cape Cervera. It was James II who authorised its construction in 1312, and since 1985 it has been an Asset of Cultural Interest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Moorish tower was essential to protect this area, for example, in the Muslim attack of 1378 and the war between the kingdoms of Castile and Aragon. It has been modified over the years, as it is one of the oldest<\/strong>, but it is still a great place to visit and enjoy the views from the top of the tower!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Las Lagunas de La Mata and Torrevieja Natural Park<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

A Special Protection Area for Birds, a Site of Community Interest and a Special Area of Conservation – absolutely amazing! The pink colour of the salt marshes is the most impressive thing, but that is not all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These wetlands are extremely important for numerous species<\/strong> that use them during their migrations or for nesting. Take a stroll and enjoy the different shades of water. But bear in mind that bathing is forbidden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n

The traditional cuca\u00f1a<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The cuca\u00f1a is pure tradition. It is held in the port during the feast of the Virgen del Carmen<\/strong> and is based on passing through a pole smeared with grease while keeping your balance, until you reach a flag at the end.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Habaneras International Contest<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The musical genre of Habaneras emerged in Cuba in the 19th century and is a slow composition in which a maximum of 15 singers can sing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Music lovers should not miss the Habaneras and Polyphony International Contest of Torrevieja. It is the oldest of its kind, and a reference in the international choral panorama<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It has been declared a Festival of International Tourist Interest and is held every summer in the Eras de la Sal, attended by choirs from all over the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
