Now that you know a little more about the Costa Blanca, we are sure you will want to discover it for yourself. In this corner of the world we like to live the good life near the sea and under the sun.

Location of the Costa Blanca

There is a place

There is a place where you can get up early, but with the sea breeze. Bills also have to be paid, but the 300 days of sunshine a year are free. Here, business meetings also take longer, as do meetings with friends on the beach promenade. This place has 244 kilometres of coastline, it shines every day in the light of the Mediterranean sun and in winter it invites you to put away your woollen hat and stroll along the beach. Yes, really, this place exists. It's called the Costa Blanca! and we want you to get to know it.

#SayHolaTo
The Costa Blanca is home to a population of more than 70 different nationalities. There is a reason why they chose this place, don't you think?

Out in the fresh air
A cocktail on the terrace, a round of golf, a jog with the dogs... We agree. Life is better out in the fresh air.

Out in the sun
Sunglasses are not just for summer. The light on the Costa Blanca is intense and reaches everywhere, so even Mondays feel good.

Here you will get all that

"Land where the radiant and brave light overflows from a sun of subtle gold, and where the flowering of April never ends."
Miguel Hernández

We quote the words of Miguel Hernández. There is a reason why the Costa Blanca is one of the favourite destinations for Spanish nationals and Europeans for buying a second home. Is it because of the good weather, that never stops? Because of the endless beaches? Or is it because of the gastronomy, the inland routes, the culture and the history of its towns and cities?

Keep calm and bring a parasol

Sea water is our weakness. Every beach on the Costa Blanca deserves to be known. To get you started, here are our top picks. If we get lost, look for us sleeping under the umbrella... or soaking in the water.

¿Cómo llegar a la Costa Blanca

Granadella Cove, Jávea

A little gem in the Mediterranean Sea. The crystal clear waters of the Granadella Cove are bordered by a unique natural landscape. It is perfect for diving enthusiasts.

Arenetes Beach, Dénia

It is the dream of those who avoid the sand. The clear water is guaranteed, because its seabed is part of the Cape Sant Antoni Marine Reserve.

San Juan Beach, Alicante

A Mediterranean beach in all its glory. Fine white sand and 80 metres of shore. You can practise sports such as windsurfing, beach volleyball, paddle-surfing, kayaking... and enjoy the tastiest specialities of the Mediterranean cuisine at the beach bar.

Barranco Rubio Beach, Orihuela Costa

This beach in the urbanisation of Dehesa de Campoamor is all about comfort, is well kept and is the longest beach on the coast of Orihuela, so walks can be long, and many people use it for their morning running sessions!

This is what it's like to live in Alicante

It's not just about strolling along the seashore. The Costa Blanca has many cities and towns that are well worth a visit. A good pair of shoes, a guide and a camera. You are now ready to get to know the province of Alicante as the local people experience it.

Vistas en la Costa Blanca

Elche

Did you know that Elche has three cultural assets listed as World Heritage Sites? The first is its exceptional Palmeral or Palm Grove, an example of sustainability and an Andalusian legacy. The second is the Misteri de Elche, which we will tell you about in the section 'Long life to tradition'. And the third is the Pusol School Museum, a museum dating back to the sixties. And all three are waiting for you.

Orihuela

We cannot forget Orihuela, the capital of the Vega Baja region and home to beautiful buildings and palaces that tell us about its history. Like the Palacio del Conde de la Granja, and La Senda del Poeta, a journey through the life and work of Miguel Hernández.

White Villages

In this area you will find the typical white villages such as Altea, Jávea, Polop de la Marina, the modernist architecture of Alcoy and Novelda, the colour of Villajoyosa, the Iberian and Roman history of Denia... and one of the most beautiful old quarters of the Alicante coast in the Santa Cruz district, in Alicante.

Going for the hills

If the beach is not your thing, don't worry. The Costa Blanca has more than just sand and waves. Alicante is one of the most mountainous provinces in the country. Who would have guessed, right? The landscape seems to be created by and for hikers: valleys, high peaks, routes, leisure facilities, protected areas, high-value biodiversity...

Montañas en la Costa Blanca

Peñón de Ifach Natural Park

The Peñón de Ifach is a symbol of the Costa Blanca in general and Calpe in particular. This enormous limestone rock rises from the sea to a height of 332 metres, and the protected natural area covers 45 hectares. You will also find archaeological sites that speak of the rich history of this coastal area. The best way to enjoy nature in Calpe.

Serra Gelada and Albir Lighthouse

Hiking in Benidorm? Well, of course! The Serra Gelada lies between the bays of Benidorm and Alfàs-Altea and offers visitors breathtaking views of the coastline. It is a sea and land Natural Park and 88% of its 5,564 hectares are in the marine environment. Stroll along the cliffs and reach the Albir Lighthouse, from where you can see Altea, Calpe and Alfaz del Pi. And maybe even some dolphins!

Montgó Natural Park

A hiking route through this area located between Dénia and Jávea will reveal more than 650 species of flora and vegetation. It is a magnificent starting point for the Great Inland Costa Blanca Route and rises to 753 metres above the sea. It also has a great archaeological and historical value due to its watchtowers, mills and fields. It is one of the most spectacular landscapes on the Valencian coast.

Wait, there's more!

On the Costa Blanca, water has traditionally served not only as a leisure activity, but also as a way of life. In the first group, we find the islands, small unique ecosystems where you can get away from the hustle and bustle of the world. In the second group, we find the salt mines, which have been characteristic of this area for years thanks to the lagoons and natural salt pans.

Playas en la Costa Blanca

Natural Park of Las Lagunas de la Mata – Torrevieja

An Area of Special Protection for Birds, a Site of Community Interest and a Special Area of Conservation – absolutely amazing! The pink colour of the salt marshes is the most impressive thing, but that is not all. These wetlands are extremely important for numerous species that use them during their migrations or for nesting. Take a stroll and enjoy the different shades of water. But bear in mind that bathing is forbidden.

Tabarca Island

This is the only inhabited island in the Valencian Community, and if only we lived there. It has turquoise waters that divers and bathers love, and an atmosphere in which time seems to stand still. It is a Historical and Artistic Site, a Marine Reserve and an Area of Special Protection for Birds. Take a walk through the fortified village of San Pedro and San Pablo and El Campo, an area of bushes and shrubs ideal for relaxing. And don't forget to try the "caldero tabarquino", an exquisite rice dish made with the best sea broth.

Orihuela Coastal Route

We can't leave out one of the most beautiful coastal routes, the Orihuela Costa route. 16 kilometres of cliffs, coves, beaches, marinas... Starting the itinerary in Punta Prima, you will pass through Playa Flamenca, La Zenia, Cabo Roig, Aguamarina, Campoamor and finish at the beach of Mil Palmeras. With the Mediterranean horizon to your left, this walk is great for watching the sunrise.

You can do it again

And you probably will! The Costa Blanca is in the ideal place to make the most of the produce of this corner of the Mediterranean region. Vegetables, fruit, pulses, fish and seafood... the perfect combination for flavours that, trust us, are hard to find elsewhere. A word of advice: take them when you're hungry.

Gastronomía en la Costa Blanca

La Finca, Elche

Susi Díaz's restaurant is set in a house surrounded by a beautiful garden in the countryside of Elche. That alone makes it worthwhile, but her sophisticated and creative dishes are cooked with the best fresh seasonal ingredients. A unique blend of know-how, tradition and trends, with a Michelin star.

Frijolino, La Finca Resort, Algorfa

The setting of La Finca Resort, the views of the gardens, and the natural surroundings... all this is well worth enjoying while you try the dishes at Frijolino, located next to hole 1 of the golf course. It's a great place to go with the family or for dinner. You won't be left indifferent by its Italian-Mexican mix. Don't miss the ceviche with fresh red sea bream!

Quique Dacosta, Denia

Who hasn't heard of Quique Dacosta? His restaurant offers an excellent blend of avant-garde cuisine with deep Mediterranean roots inspired by his homeland, Denia. It has no less than three Michelin stars and was included in the list of the 50 best restaurants in the world in 2013, and crowned as the best restaurant in the list of the 100 best restaurants in Europe in 2013 and in 2015.

One, two, one, two...

¡But don't think that we only like to eat! On the Costa Blanca, we like to do sport while enjoying our surroundings. The sea in particular. The Mediterranean Sea is, after all, a great regatta area. If you can't find your ideal activity, it's because you don't want to.

Deportes en la Costa Blanca

Which board shall we take today?

Kitesurf, windsurf, surf, pádel-surf, water skiing wakeboard, diving, kayaking… there are plenty to choose from, right? On the Costa Blanca you can find water sports schools everywhere, because the sea is not only for swimming. We recommend Parrés Water Sports in Alicante, Santa Pola, San Juan and Arenales del Sol. And at Sun Sea Adventures they are specialists in Stand Up Paddle.

Don’t look down!

For nature and adrenaline lovers, the Costa Blanca is an ideal setting for adventure sports. At Tururac, Tramuntana Aventura and Grieta-Aventura they specialise in active tourism, which includes coasteering, climbing, mountaineering, caving, via ferrata, canyoning, rafting, abseiling, paragliding ... Hold tight and enjoy!

Campos de Golf en la Costa Blanca

Alenda Golf

Roland Favrat designed and built this magnificent golf course in 1999. The design was made respecting the topography of the land and its natural vegetation. The course covers 49 hectares of land, 18 holes, par 78 and 6,257 m in length, and offers an excellent practice area.

Golf La Finca

Pepe Gancedo, one of the best amateur players in Spain, designed this par 72, 18-hole course which opened in 2002. Its wide fairways make the driver easy to use, while the long rough is a real challenge. The views of the Vega Baja are breathtaking - one of the best golf courses in Spain!

Las Colinas Golf & Country Club

Awarded "Best Golf Course in Spain" at the World Golf Awards, this 18-hole course in Orihuela Costa stands out for its versatility. Whether you''re competing or just playing a more relaxed game, you''ll love its wide greens. The chill-out area and the Italian restaurant Il Palco complete a setting that has earned its reputation. 200,000 m2 of natural area and native vegetation!

Long life to tradition

In Spain, culture and traditions are celebrated. And the Costa Blanca is no exception. We like to dance in the open air, to remember historical episodes that always end in a party, to share fireworks with friends.

Fiestas y costumbres en la Costa Blanca

Hogueras or Bonfires

You will soon discover that in the Valencian Community we love celebrations with fire (always under control, of course). The Bonfires of San Juan have been declared an Intangible Asset of Cultural Interest and a Festival of International Tourist Interest. Alicante celebrates the arrival of summer with this festival which is held from 20 June to 24 June. Its origins go back to ancient times, when people burned useless and old objects on the longest day and shortest night of the year.

Semana Santa or Holy Week

The Spanish Semana Santa (Holy Week) is one of the most famous in the world. It is celebrated annually in commemoration of the Passion, Death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ. The most impressive thing is undoubtedly the sculptures carried on the shoulders of the Nazarenes, true works of art! Don't miss the one in Orihuela, Crevillente, and the Palm Sunday procession in Elche.

Moors and Christians

And if you're more of a party person... you'll love this. In many areas of Spain, especially in Alicante, scenes of battles between Moors and Christians that took place during the Reconquest are recreated. Costumes of the participants are of an impressive quality. Many of these celebrations have been declared of National Tourist Interest.

I'll take it

You can't buy the entire Costa Blanca (sorry!), but you have at your disposal shops, shopping centres, handicrafts... You'll have to keep an eye on yourself, because Alicante has products as tempting as these...

Economía en la Costa Blanca

Footwear

The shoes made in Elda are famous all over the world. A historical industry based on quality and perfection in every detail. We recommend you to visit the Footwear Museum and the shoe sale route in Elche.

Products with flavour

Take a little piece of the Costa Blanca to your pantry. We love the nougat from Jijona and Alicante, the fig and date bread from Elche, the chocolate from Villajoyosa, the Mollar pomegranate... in short, we can't wait to get a bite.

Going shopping

And for shopping days, visit the shops in urban centres such as Alicante, Torrevieja and Benidorm, or the shopping centres of La Zenia and Gran Alacant.

Now that you know a little more about the Costa Blanca, we are sure you will want to discover it for yourself. In this corner of the world we like to live the good life near the sea and under the sun.
