With 1250 metres of coastline, more than 300 days of sunshine a year and an average annual temperature of 17ºC, Canet de Berenguer is a privileged municipality just 20 kilometres from Valencia. It is an environment with an almost infinite tourist and cultural offer.

The good life is everywhere. Check it out:

We all like it

Really, I promise! There is so much to see and do, and from kids to grown-ups, everyone will be thrilled.

In Valencia you cannot miss the City of Arts and Sciences, the historical centre, the cathedral, the Central Market, the Llotja de la Seda or Silk Exchange, the North Station or a boat trip in the Albufera.

Also, just 30 kilometres to the north is Castellón. If you do not know it, check it out. Because this city surprises with monuments such as El Fadrí, La Lonja del Cáñamo or the Post Office building, as well as the Grao and the excellent gastronomy of the area.

Valencia old town

What can we say about Canet? We will always fall short. Its fine, soft sand, the clear sea bed, the dune system… Canet beach has been awarded the prize for the best beach in Spain for two years in a row, based on the ranking carried out by the ATRESMEDIA communication group. Canet’s beaches also obtain the Blue Flag of the Clean Seas of Europe and the Q for Tourism Quality every year.

The natural parks of the Sierra Calderona and Sierra de Espadán are also ideal for family plans such as hiking and quad or mountain bike tours.

And to make things even more enjoyable, in the summer months live music brings the terraces to life, craft markets fill the beach promenade, and cultural and sporting events are extremely varied. Fairgrounds in the beach area will delight the little ones. Watch out: it is going to be hard to get them out of there.

Boring… what?

Canet de Berenguer beaches. Go for a swim today, but where?

It will be a little difficult to answer that question, because on the Valencian coast there are 476 kilometres of coastline and more than a hundred beaches with a blue flag! Among them you will find Racó de Mar and Almardá in Canet de Berenguer or La Malvarrosa and El Saler in Valencia. Spring and autumn, winter and summer. What does it matter? They are perfect for any time of the year.

But let’s talk about our favorite: Racó de Mar is the spectacular beach of Canet de Berenguer, 1250 metres long and 80 metres wide. Amazing! And it is not just fine, clear sand, shallow crystalline waters and a relaxed, family-oriented setting. Racó de Mar has an added bonus: the ecological and environmental value of its dunes. As natural as life itself. In addition, it has been awarded the Blue Flag status for three decades due to the quality of its water and services. In Racó de Mar you will not miss anything. Put your Whatsapp in silent mode and enjoy!

And if you get tired of roasting in the sun, at the marina you can enjoy dinghy sailing and windsurfing courses for everyone during the summer.

In the adjacent Almardà Beach, gravel is mixed with coarse sand and the dune line continues. With a length of two kilometres, it is perfect for water sports.

And the one of Corinto-Malvarrosa, also nearby, is the most natural of Sagunto’s beaches, with a mixture of coarse sand and round stone. It is not very crowded and great for nap time lovers. Another quiet and well-preserved beach is Casa Blanca, in Almenara. The Marjal de Almenara is located in its surroundings. Who would have thought that some lagoons could be so beautiful. There was a time when the temple dedicated to Venus, attributed to the Greek or Carthaginian people, was built nearby.

And, on second thought… why choose, when you can visit them all? If you want to know more,  here are our favourite Blue Flag beaches.

Gastronomy. All you can eat

Yes, I am sure you will want to try it again and again. In Canet you will find all the specialties of Valencian gastronomy, being rice the undisputed favourite. In all its varieties such as paella, baked, black, a banda, empedrat… as well as in dishes made with fresh produce brought in from the sea and the countryside. And, of course, the typical Canet lunch: eggs and prawns. Is your stomach rumbling yet?

El Galeón, El Casino or El Sarao are the stars of Mediterranean cuisine in the area, with menus that range from octopus on the grill and esgarraet with tuna jerky, to mantis shrimp paella and artichokes. Yummy!

As if that were not enough, in Valencia you have Michelin star restaurants such as El Poblet of Quique Dacosta and the restaurants of chef Ricard Camarena. And on the beach of Daimús, a little over half an hour from Canet and almost located in the sand, you will find Casa Manolo, which has a Michelin Star.

We leave the choice of dessert to you.

And there is more…

Attention, lawn lovers: less than an hour from Gran Canet you will find some of the most prestigious golf clubs in the Valencian Community. Practice your golf drive in the middle of nature and in a luxurious setting by the sea or the mountains and enjoy an unbeatable range of services. The weather will be kind to you all year round. Could you possibly ask for more?

The Mediterranean Sea is also a great regatta course. In summer, the Sailing School of the Yacht Club is open. Or you can also choose water sports to enjoy the coast: dinghy sailing, paddle surfing, kayaking and canoeing, diving, water skiing, sport fishing or underwater fishing… you will feel like a cabin boy 😉

But there are also marathons, open-entry races, roads through amazing landscapes to cycle through, a yoga festival on the beach, mountain activities such as rafting, climbing, kayaking, canyoning or paragliding in inland areas…

In short, Canet de Berenguer offers more than enough to write a book. The next chapter is up to you! If you feel like living your next chapter in Canet, our exclusive homes at the Gran Canet residential complex are perfect for a life by the sea.

At Sonneil, we help you live it.
