November comes with colder weather (although we can’t complain on the Mediterranean coast!) and, as the days go by, we feel more and more inclined to dress warmly and eat hot meals. But we all know the best way to warm up in the colder months: hugging.
On the Mediterranean coast, we like to have contact with others and to show affection, and now we have the perfect excuse. 😉
Because the good life is best lived in company.
Benefits of hugging
You have probably often thought to yourself: “I need a hug”. Especially in those moments when you are feeling vulnerable and the support of another person encourages you to keep going. Well, there is a scientific explanation behind that feeling. These are the benefits of hugging:

Less stress
It is at our lowest and probably most stressful moments that we need hugs the most. But, why is that? Well, hugging increases our production of oxytocin, known as the “love hormone”.
At the same time, oxytocin reduces cortisol and adrenaline levels, hormones that make us feel stressed and overwhelmed by circumstances. As a result, we feel more at peace and calmer. So, now you know: instead of taking a stress pill, give someone a hug!
More self-esteem
Oxytocin is not the only hormone we release when we hug. Serotonin and dopamine also play their part, helping us to improve our mood and ultimately feel happier. This, of course, improves our self-esteem, something that is also linked to feeling more secure and loved when someone hugs us.
A healthier heart
Our physical health is also improved by hugging, because it lowers the pressure in our arteries and our heart rate. In general, the muscles relax, which makes the heart beat slower and easier. Our precious oxytocin helps to repair and grow muscles.

Less chance of getting sick
By reducing stress, hugs help us to improve our general health and protect us from illness. According to some studies, people who are hugged often have a lower chance of getting sick. It makes sense, because conflicts with loved ones cause stress and make us more susceptible to illness. And with hugs, those uncomfortable situations are much easier to deal with, right?
Better communication
Hugs help us communicate with others. Most human communication is verbal or facial, but touch is another powerful way we send messages to each other. Hugging says many things. “I understand you”, “I’m with you”, “I missed you”… What better way to communicate than this?
The most romantic destinations in Spain
Some destinations encourage us to show our feelings. Due to the landscape, the tranquillity, the intimacy… These are our top 3 of the most romantic destinations in Spain.
Mijas (Costa del Sol)
Cobbled alleyways, quiet corners, sea and mountain views, summer nights… Mijas has everything you could hope for in a romantic getaway. Nestled in the foothills of the mountains, Mijas looks like a white oasis among the mountains. The best thing to do is to wander around the village at your own pace, discovering it and, of course, tasting the delicious Mediterranean gastronomy. Find out more about what to do in Mijas here. And of course, a lot of hugging!
Cabo de Gata (Almeria)
What better place to spend time with your partner than the wonderful unspoilt beaches of Almeria? At Cabo de Gata you are guaranteed unspoilt natural landscapes, impressive stretches of sand such as Playa de Los Muertos, golden dunes and hidden coves. You can also enjoy a boat trip along the coastline of Almeria, or explore the caves and cliffs with a kayak tour. No matter what you do, Cabo de Gata is great for couples.

Menorca (Balearic Islands)
And we couldn’t forget Menorca, a paradise for a quiet, simple and natural lifestyle. Stroll through the fishing villages, watch the sunset on any of its beaches and coves with turquoise waters, treat yourself to dinner for two in any of the many excellent restaurants in Mahón and Ciudadela… and finish in La Cova d’en Xoroi, a cave formed in the wall of a cliff that offers a spectacular setting both during the day and at night.
We hope you take advantage of November to visit one of these destinations or simply to show your affection to the people you love. Here is our playlist with songs that talk about the beauty of hugging, touching and being close to one another.
